The Hoffman papers consists of agendas, minutes, reports, correspondence, flyers, and ephemera from Hoffman's undergraduate years at R.P.I. The bulk of the material, 1969-1973 emphasizes an intense period of campus activity and change at Rensselaer regarding political issues on campus and nationally.

The Palmer C. Ricketts' Student notebooks (MC 31) contain a small amount of material documenting Ricketts' education and early teaching experiences at RPI, 1874-1878.  Composed of five notebooks, tthese include two student volumes of drawing exercises, and three professorial notebooks containing notes and problems in mathematics and mechanics.  The last professional notebook also includes problems regarding bridge construction.

Scope and Contents The RPI Student Sketch Book Collection (AC 14) is a conglomeration of student sketch books and drawings from varied accessions and donors. The "pre-computer" course of study required a great amount of hands-on drawing, often in the form of a final sketch book. Though these drawings span from 1864 to 1952, they are similar in nature. Scope and Contents

The Thaddeus Sanford Smith papers (MC 32), 1858-1861, contain two volumes of student notes in such courses as geometry, physics, electricity, chemistry, surveying, etc. Names of lecturers are given below when they were listed in Smith's notes. Also included are brief notations for Smith's thesis on a railway bridge.
