This collection contains five black paper photo albums kept by Henry and Carl Thiessen, RPI Class of 1909 and Class of 1913, respectively. The photos showcase civil engineering projects, as well as travel photographs from Trinidad; East St. Louis, Illinois; Canton and Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Loch Raven, Maryland; Oilton, Oklahoma; and Lake Linden, Michigan. Also included are snapshots of Henry, Carl, and co-workers, as well as photos taken on a trip to Washington, DC.

Henry W. Potts survey notebooks

Content Description

The student notebooks of Henry Potts (RPI Class of 1912) cover surveying classes and lectures. Two volumes from 1910 address pond surveys, differential leveling, triangulations, and vertical angles, as well as various mathematical computations and drawings of local rivers and ponds. The two other notebooks, both dated 1911, cover measurements and meter ratings of local ponds, tide gauge readings, level notes, and stadia readings.
