Henry Sjoerd van Klooster papers
Scope and Contents
The Henry S. van Klooster papers (MC 34), 1907-1956, feature a small selection of student notebooks, 1907-1914, which van Klooster created during his attendance at the University of Groningen (Holland), the University of Grottingen (Germany), and the Pasteur Institute (France) (?). The notebooks, arranged chronologically, include notes from his work with such professors as Van der Waals Jr., Tammann, Wallach and Eykman in such subjects as electrochemistry, organic chemistry, thermodynamics and colloid chemistry. The van Klooster Papers also include a 1912 notebook created during van Klooster's service as lecture and laboratory assistant to Professor Jaeger at the University of Groningen, and drafts of two historical articles, "Liebig and his American pupils" (1956) and an essay on Stephen van Rensselaer (1939), which van Klooster wrote while teaching at RPI.
