Scope and Contents
The Institute Publications Collection is an umbrella for hundreds of titles published by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute schools, departments, and student organizations. These include college catalogs (published under a variety of titles over the years); Institute bulletins, newsletters, programs, calendars, news releases, and promotional materials; alumni bulletins, magazines, and directories; student, faculty, and staff directories; guides, handbooks, and manuals; reports; songbooks; yearbooks; the student newspaper (The Rensselaer Polytechnic); and a wide range of printed materials produced by the Rensselaer community. Also included are three series: At Rensselaer, Engineering and Science Series, and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Bulletin.

Biographical / Historical
Published under a variety of titles over the years, the college catalog contains information on Rensselaer adademic programs, entrance and graduation requirements, physical facilities, trustees, administration and faculty. The catalogs were part of the R.P.I. Bulletin series from 1902 to 1964. Through most of the 19th and early 20th centuries these volumes included class lists of current and former students. Alumni registers or directories were later published separately.

Accruals
Variable. The earliest issues were published each semester; more recently they have been published annually. From the 1950s to the 1990s a separate graduate school catalog was also published, and there are occasional special catalogs such as the 1830 "Rensselaer School Flotilla."
Materials Specific Details
From 1902 to 1964 catalogs were included in the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Bulletin series along with other Institute publications.
