Scope and Contents

The Institute Publications Collection is an umbrella for hundreds of titles published by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute schools, departments, and student organizations.  These include college catalogs (published under a variety of titles over the years); Institute bulletins, newsletters, programs, calendars, news releases, and  promotional materials; alumni bulletins, magazines, and directories; student, faculty, and staff directories; guides, handbooks, and manuals; reports; songbooks; yearbooks; the student newspaper (The Rensselaer Polytechnic); and a wide range of printed materials produced by the Rensselaer community. Also included are three series:  At Rensselaer, Engineering and Science Series, and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Bulletin.

Biographical or Historical Information

Institute Publications date back to the early years of the Rensselaer School, which was founded in 1824. Relatively few publications survive prior to the late nineteenth century, but later years are better documented in the collection.
