Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Institute Publications Collection is an umbrella for hundreds of titles published by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute schools, departments, and student organizations.  These include college catalogs (published under a variety of titles over the years); Institute bulletins, newsletters, programs, calendars, news releases, and  promotional materials; alumni bulletins, magazines, and directories; student, faculty, and staff directories; guides, handbooks, and manuals; reports; songbooks; yearbooks; the student newspaper (The Rensselaer Polytechnic); and a wide range of printed materials produced by the Rensselaer community. Also included are three series:  At Rensselaer, Engineering and Science Series, and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Bulletin.

The Reading of Theses is a small booklet listing the theses to be presented by Rensselaer seniors prior to graduation. They were required of all undergraduates until World War II. The thesis requirement was waived for the classes of 1918 and 1919 to hasten graduation for young men preparing for military duty during World War I.
