Biographical Note

Charles W. Murdock attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he received both an A.B. and a C.E. degree in in 1912. Early in his career Murdock held positions at the New York Telephone Company, the Public Service Commission, and Curtiss Engineering Corp. Starting in 1920 he held a succession of draftsman and engineering positions for the New York State Bridge and Tunnel Commission, and later held a joint position with the New Jersey Interstate Bridge and Tunnel Commission. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s Murdock was employed as a mecahnical engineer for the New York Port Authority. After his retirement, Murdock remained active as a consulting engineer on tunnel ventilation projects in the eastern United States.
