Biographical Statement
Roland Alven was born August 9, 1908 in Olean, New York and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating with a degree in civil engineering in 1930. After graduating from R.P.I. Alven maintained a steady engineering career throughout New York State and in 1935 was topographical draftsman in Tennessee and Kentucky. In 1960 he was appointed project manager for the Bureau of Yards & Docks for the U.S. Navy, Washington D.C.
