Biographical or Historical Information
The Rensselaer Retirees Forum (RRF) was incorporated in 1988 as "a non-profit organization to enhance the social, economic, and professional well-being of retirees of Rensselaer" (Article II, RRF Bylaws). By 1990 a spin-off organization, the Rensselaer Pension Study Committee (PSC), was formed to investigate RPI's pension plan, a topic which occupied both groups for the next several years, culminating in a legal challenge which was later dropped by the PSC. Subsequent RRF activities focussed more on educational programming, including financial and estate planning, medical insurance, local history presentations, and a wide range of topics of interest to retirees.
