Biographical or Historical Information
The Faculty Women's Club of R.P.I. was initiated in the mid 1930s when Mrs. Ray Palmer Baker held a tea to promote a club for the wives of faculty members. Its name was changed to 'Women's Club of R.P.I.' in the early 1970s when the club opened its membership to all women affiliated with Rensselaer. In addition to its goal of fostering social contact among RPI families, the club sponsors special events and projects, including fund raisers and services for student groups on campus. The club also produced RPI faculty/staff directories for many years. In 2011 the club opened its membership to male members and changed its name to The Rensselaer Club.
