This series primarily reflect George’s business activities in Mexico. There is significant correspondence relating to railroads and family affairs. Notable material includes a collection of outgoing correspondence from Savannah, Georgia, 1860-1861. In this correspondence, George discusses life in Savannah, the tensions of the Civil War and his growing coin collection. Many of these letters contain rubbings of his newly collected coins. Oversized material has been housed separately.
