“Religion and Science” –in German, 1893
Scope and Contents
The correspondence in this series portrays the diverse business and personal affairs of James Skilton. There is significant correspondence from family members, including some regarding Skilton genealogy, land and business ventures, particularly in the South, and patent claims managed by James in his later life. A gap of 9 years in this correspondence, from 1859-1868, coincides with James’ stay in Savannah during the Civil War. Notable correspondents in this series include members of the Cluett family and Herbert Spencer. The correspondence is arranged alphabetically by correspondent.
