Biographical Note

Alfred E. Sorenson, known as "Alf" while attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, was born September 3, 1902. He prepared at Meriden Highschool in Meriden, Connecticut. Sorenson began attending RPI in 1921 and completed his studies in Mechanical Engineering in 1924. According to the 1924 Transit, Sorenson is described as having "prowess in 'Thermo'." In September 1924, Sorenson began teaching at RPI as an instructor in Mechanical Engineering. By 1926, Sorenson began teaching Mechanical Engineering at Princeton Univerisity eventually earning the title of emeritus professor. He was a Princeton faculty member from 1926 to 1971.
