Biographical Note
Joseph Donald "Don" Mochon studied architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, receiving his Bachelor of Architecture in 1936 and a Master of Architecture in 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941 to 1945 and later became a professor in RPI's School of Architecture. He was the school's acting dean on several occassions. In 1966, Mochon was named the first director of the University Art Gallery at SUNY Albany, where he worked until his death in 1976.

Three framed items, two of which are paintings by Donald Mochon that belonged to Stephen Wiberley and hung in his office when he served as provost at RPI. One reads "Decisions, Decisions" (20 1/2" W x 16" H); the other includes lengthy text beginning with "In an examination..." (23 1/4" W x 21 3/8" H).The third item is a charicature of Wiberley and Carl Westerdahl roasting Joseph "Doc" Pahl on the occasion of his retirement as the RPI physician in 1984 (24 1/4" W x 20 1/4" W). ...
