Biographical Note

Walter E. Jones was born September 1, 1877 at Rome, NY. He prepared at the Troy Academy, and then entered Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1897. Jones graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1901 with a bachelor in civil engineering. Jones’ graduating year, he was a member of Theta Xi and Associate Editor of the Transit. Jones went on to become President of the Federal Concrete Company, Inc. in Buffalo, N.Y.

The Walter E. Jones papers (MC 47) contain notes, exercises and duplicated lecture notes from such courses as mathematics, physics, astronomy and drawing. An oversize plan for the D. and H.C. Co.'s bridge at Green Island, N.Y., drawn by Jones, may have been performed as a Civil Engineering project.
